IMAP

IMAP is the Internet Message Access Protocol to manage email by almost every email client.

After configuring DBMail you start the service and point your email client at your server.

To make it easier for your users to configure their email client it's useful to add an entry to the DNS to let them know where to find it. Many organisations use smtp.example.com to send emails and imap.example.com to receive/manage them.

Mobile friendly synchronising message state changes such as seen flags and tags within mailboxes, and minimising the amount of traffic need to reduce network traffic. See RFC 7162 in Standards.
